2. BMW iX3 (Neue Klasse)

Next up is the car BMW is betting its entire electric future on. The next-generation BMW iX3 is one of the first models built on BMW’s all-new Neue Klasse platform, launching in March 2026 with a real-world range of up to 360 miles and a 0–62 mph time of around 4.9 seconds. Unlike BMW’s earlier EVs, which were largely adapted from existing gas-car underpinnings, Neue Klasse is a clean-sheet electric architecture built specifically for software-defined features and faster charging. This matters well beyond BMW showrooms it’s the template every legacy automaker is racing to copy, and how well the iX3 executes it will shape how quickly the rest of the industry follows.
